The project began with photographs produced using a portable scanner rather than a conventional camera. Recording surfaces through direct physical contact encouraged active engagement with the surrounding environment, capturing fragments of texture, pattern and detail. This approach shifts photography from passive observation towards physical interaction, offering an alternative way of documenting encounters with place.
